My Word Office 2000 Professional will not open on my XP.

I recently bought a new computer with XP already installed. I then installed
my Office 2000 Professional that I had on my last computer. Word will not
open. Program will not respond. I checked for updates on the Microsoft site
and thought I downloaded everything applicable. Is there a fix?

If Office 2000 was an OEM version, it may not run on a different computer
(and in any case it is not legal to install it).
