need a product code to reinstall after crash

My computer crashed so I had to have to reinstall all programs and I can't
locate the product code for the disk to install Office 97 that I purchased
several years ago. How can I get the program installed so that I can recover
my files and work again?

I don't know of any way to get the code for anything older than Office 2000.
It may be time to upgrade.

A workaround is to download Open Office from
http://download.openoffice.org/2.0.3/index.html and use it to open your
older Office files.
