Need Help Creating Report

This is tough to explain. We have each task labled as one of four catagories
in a seperate column. I need a report showing how much time each employee
has spent each month working in each catagory. The closest I could get left
me with the issue of not being able to seperate the time on task with
multiple resources. Can anyone suggest anything that might help me? Let me
know if you need more clarification.

I'm not sure what you're asking for, but I can tell you that the report
module in Project is very weak, at least in the stand-alone version.
Fortunately, you have options. If you have and know Access, you can
save your Project files in Access and use it's report writer to get
what you want.
It's very easty to copy and paste data from Project to Excel, and do a
report in Excel.
Finally, there are third party software vendors to help you write
reports from Project.
Hope this helps in your world.

I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!!!! The problem is that the catagories are
related to the task and so when i use the resource usage view Im not given
the option to group by the new group i created. Does that make sense? Thats
about how far I got a few months ago when I attempted this. Now we really
need reports on this information and Im not able to get it. Let me know if
you have any other suggestions. THANKS AGAIN.

It sounds like you want to use the resource usage view with a grouping
applied based on the category you have set up

First create the group

Go to Project > Group by > More Groups
Click New Group
Name the group and apply the field you created for the category
Save (and optionally add to the menu)
Go to the resource usage view
Apply the group by going to Project > Group by and selecting your new group
(more groups if you did not add to the menu)

This should show you the information in the format as I understnad that you
want it

If not let me know

I do have access and have made some attempt at pulling in the information I
need. I have to look further into it. Thanks for your suggestion.
