Can someone tell me and where Outlook saves its data
files -- contacts, e-mail, notes, etc.

go to Outlook and open the file menu. there is an option
called Data File Management.............

Go to Tools, select Options, go to the Mailsetup tab and then find the Data Files button. That will tell you what you need.
