Our web site was set up using Front page software, not sure which version,
the guy that did everything in house is no longer working here and when he
left he took the software with him. We need to make changes to our web site,
if I can find the software would it have to be the same version or would any
version do? This stuff is all new to me but I would like to learn how to do
it on my own, any suggestions?

It depends upon the features used. Any version of FP should work, but if he
used features that are specific to one version or later, then those features
may be disabled when editing in FP. You may also want to download the trial
of Expression Web which is the replacement to FrontPage. The last version
of FP is FrontPage 2003, though the primary difference between it and FP
2002 are bug fixes and editor enhancements as opposed to new functionality.

Theoretically you could use any HTML editor to edit the site. It all depends
though on how many and what type of FP-only features the author used
previously.

Before you edit any part of the site though, make sure you have a complete
copy of it just in case the changes end up mangling it. It's very easy to
end up with a mangled site when you don't know how it was laid out and
designed by a previous individual.

Hope this helps,
