Need to Delete Two Custom Properties fields in several shapes at o

I just upgraded to Visio 2007. Basically, I am using export wizard to create
a database for a number of stencil files we have. What we have is several
files that hold symbols that contain information to create a bill of
materials when our designers use our stencils to make designs. I am able to
go through and change pricing, etc. to update the stencil files, which is
great

What I am needing to do is go into these hundreds of existing stencils and
update them by deleting two custom properties fields. I do not want to do
this individually. I tried exporting only the fields I need into the excel
database, but when I import the database back into my stencils/symbols, it
does not get rid of the two custom properties fields. Is there a way to
delete these fields throughout the whole stencil file at one time? This needs
to be done in the master stencil file and not on the drawing itself. Thanks

Shape Data sets are your friend! Try these steps:

1. Open a drawing and your stencil (opened for editing), and drag one of
your shapes out to a drawing page.
2. Turn on the Shape Data window (View > Shape Data Window), if it is not
already displayed.
3. Select the shape on the page which has Shape Data.
4. In a blank area of the Shape Data window, right click and select Shape
Data Sets
5. Click Add to create a new set.
a. Type a name for the set
b. Choose the option "Create a new set from the shape selected in
Visio", and click OK
6. In the Shape Data Sets window, select your new data set, and click
Define.
7. In the Define Shape Data dialog, remove the properties that you no
longer want to have defined in your set, click OK.
(You can also edit others and add new ones)
8. Assign the data set to your stencil shapes:
a. Select all of the Masters in your stencil (click one and Ctrl-A to
select all will work)
b. Place a check mark in the box to the left of the desired data set
c. Under 'Apply checked shape data sets to:', change the option to
'Shapes selected in stencil'
d. IF Desired, place a check mark next to 'Remove existing data sets'
e. Click OK to apply the data set to all of your masters.

That should take care of you.

That was perfect thank you so much! I wrongly assumed that it would apply
all of the other fields as well so didn't even try that.
