I have networked my home computers - I am running Windows 2000 professional
one and windows xp home on the other one. On the one that I am running
Windows 2000 I have Office 2003 professional, when I try to network the
application to run on my Window XP home version computer - the error message
that I get is Operating System is not configured to run application. Am I
able to network this application and if so, how do I get the application to
run on the Windows XP home version.

No you can't. Office cannot (AFAIK) be run from a network drive. It must be
installed on individual machines. Depending on your version, your EULA may
say that you can install Office on one Desktop and one Laptop, as long as
you are not running both at the same time.
