New document opens to template

When I first started using Word I typed a letter and I think I may have
inadvertently saved it as a template. Now, whenever I start Word, it opens
to that letter. I have tried everything imaginable to clear it...I even had
my ten year old kid work on it, which usually solves most problems, but we
cannot get rid of it. I just want to be able to open to a blank page. Any
suggestions?
