New Items Display

Outlook 2000 would display an icon in the status bar
whenever a new piece of email arrived. Outlook 2003
appears to only provide the icon when new mail arrives in
the default inbox. If mail is moved to a subfolder the
icon is not displayed and no sound is produced. Anyone
have any ideas on how to fix this, if it's even fixable
at all?
