No fill colors on screen, but prints ok

Publisher 2002 on system with XP and 512K ram, when
creating a brochure the various shapes, etc with color
fill do not show up on screen, only the outline of the
art or shape, but prints out color ok as the produced
document.

Very puzzling when you consider it started out showing
everything as expected on screen but in some mysterious
fashion it began doing this bizarre behavior.

I've already uninstalled and reinstalled suspecting some
sort of corruption. No change. Loaded it on a different
computer and all is well.

Troublesome computer is a Sony Vaio laptop, with a large
amount of resources available as ram and disk space.

Help this is driving me nuts!

Thank you for your recommendation, I tried that before
the post and it doesn't work, also tried it after your
rec. in case I missed something, still doesn't work.

Here is a simple sequence of events to explain better the
problem, maybe this will shed some light on the problem.

1. On new blank sheet, I create a text box with content.

2. I create a rectangle using the rectangle tool and
attempt to fill with a bright color such as orange or red.

3. No fill color appears on screen: however, the
rectangle has white inside.

4. I move the rectangle over the text box created in step
1 and the text is not visible.

5. I choose the 'no fill' option from the fill tool bar.
The text now becomes visible. I again try to fill the box
with bright color, nothing.

6. I preview the document to see what will print and I
now can see the orange fill, and it will print with it in
place on a physical copy from the printer. However, you
cannot see the fill colors on the screen while you work
and create.

What do you think?

Thank you in advance for your help.
