It's not real clear what you mean by "...while updating progress", but
if I assume you want the number of days in elapsed time between the
Actual Start of a task and the Status Date, then create a custom field
with the following formula:
Duration1= DateDiff("d",[Actual Start],[Status Date])*480+480
