No sound in Powerpoint

when I insert a sound file in Powerpoint 2003 at home I can't hear it but I
can within Powerpoint at work. What could be the cause and how can I cure the
problem.

can you tell us more?

for example what type of sound file is it (wav midi cd etc)

how are you currently inserting the file into powerpoint?
