No "Split Window" button on the Ribbon (Word 2007). Why?

I don't know why under the "View" tab of my copy of Word 2007 there isn't a
"Split Window" button, only a "Remove Split" button. Is there any way of
putting the function back by downloading an add-in or macro? Where are they
available?

The "Split" and "Remove Split" are the same button. It says "Remove Split"
when the window is already split; click it and it will change to "Split" as
it removes the splitter.

You can also drag the small black bar at the top of the vertical scrollbar
(above the button that displays the ruler) downward to split the window, or
drag the split bar all the way to the top or bottom to remove the split.

If the Document Map is open, then the Split button will be greyed out and show "Remove Split". Close the Document Map and the "Split" button will re-appear enabled.
