Non-Enterprise Calendar

Using Pro2002 w/ Project Server. Everytime I open a
project in Project, I receive a message that says that
this project has non-enterprise calendars and Project
Server does not allow non-enter. calndrs. I follow
instructions and remove those, and save. But the error is
still there when I open the projects (any project) back
up. Help.

Dale,

Firstly, can't thank you enough for all of the help. One
more question about scheduling. Is there a way to show
how many hours needs to be worked in a day, versus how
much work can be completed in an "8 hour day", for
example. We have many projects going on at the same time
and I have some employees work overtime to speed up the
production process. I thought unleveling would do this,
but it is not helping. Thanks.

I'm not sure I really understand your question. What do you mean by the
phrase "how many hours needs to be worked in a day"? Are you talking about
remaining availability for a resource? For example, if a resource is
capable of working an 8-hour work day, and they are only assigned to 2 hours
per day during a specific time period, then they have 6 hours of remaining
availability each day during that time period.

Is this what you are talking about? If so, this can be viewed in the
Resource Center by selecting one or more resources and then clicking the
View Availability button. Select a view in the View Resource Availability
page and then examine the line called Availability.

If I haven't answered your question, please be more specific what you need.

Dale,

Sorry, please let me be more clear. I have several
projects published that when put together in Server,
changes my deadline obviously because of over allocation.
Unfortunately, I have an obligation to the deadline, and
it cannot be changed/leveled. 3 things help me achieve
these deadlines, and I cannot effectively plan in Project
Server: 1) Several resources are cross trained which
allows different production teams to be weighted down with
resources on one day, and light on others, 2) Many
resources are willing to work overtime on weekdays because
the due dates cannot slip, and 3)Weekends can be scheduled
at the last minute to make up time. I hope this is more
clear, thank you again. Rusty

If I am reading you correctly, then you should know that Microsoft Project
is not going to "fast track" your project for you to help you meet your
schedule deadline by doing things like:

1. Increasing the Units for assigned resources whose Units are currently
less than 100%
2. Assigning Overtime Work hours during the work week
3. Assigning weekend work

The tool is simply not capable of making decisions like this, but I know of
an excellent scheduling tool that is VERY capable of doing so: YOU!
Microsoft Project really needs you to be in the driver's seat on issues like
this, and to tell it what to do. Hope this helps.
