Non printing text

Have text in a Word Document that I want to display but not print. 'Hide' font works, but the reader must select the show/hide option. Is there a better/different way to do this?

Have you looked into the possibility of using comments?

Have tried comments, didn't work very well for the end user experience level that I am dealing with. Want to provide simple instruction on filling out a form and not having the instructions print with the form. I recall something called 'Tool Tips' that provides information when the mouse in over an area--printer icon on toolbar displays PRINT. Haven't been able to locate this item in Word 2000.

You can define ScreenTips for hyperlinks, so you might insert a (nonworking)
hyperlink (removing the Hyperlink character style).

To add to Suzanne's suggestion...

If you are dealing with a form, you may want to try including Help with your
form fields. You can have a help screen appear when the user hits F1 with
the cursor in the field, and/or have short help appear in the status bar
whenever the cursor is in the field.
Just double click the field and click on the Help Text button from within
the property dialog. If you need the same help text for may fields, it is
easier to create an Autotext and use that when adding help screens with your
form fields (there is a dropdown listing all the autotexts).

don't even have it displayed), I've never thought this was a very good
option. I don't know why MS doesn't do popup Help for form fields.

Another wish for Word 12, or is it too late already? Word 13 then?
