non-responsive

[MS Word Nightmares....]

My MS Office 2003 Word is slow to open....and when it does it is immediately
"non-responsive"...thoughts?

Have you tried re-installing?.. that can sometimes remedy situations like
this..

Okay... I know this is basic....but how do I re-install? My brother did the
first installation for me....and now I am away at school....I have the
disc....

There are several reasons for encountering errors starting Word.
Typically it's due to a third party conflict rather than the Word
installation. IOW, reinstalling seldom resolves Word issues.

Just stick the disk in, follow what's on screen and select the repair
option.
