Non working weekends not working

Folks,

I'm a newbie to Project and I have some challenges using the application. I
have tried and read documentation but nothing seems to be working. That is
why I am sending this.

Scenario: I have tasks that bridge over weekends and instead of the system
to treat them as non working days, it takes them as working days. For
example, I have a task that is for 10 days and starts on 20th, Project tells
me it ends on 28th. That is even 9 days and it counts the weekend days.

All the tasks are using Project Standard calendar.

Thanks

Try Tools/Change Working Time....
Make sure it is set to Standard Calendar, make certain that Saturday/Sunday
are marked as non-work days.

There is also an options button, select it and set work days to 20, etc. It
should be pretty obvious. It is also possible that you have more than 8
hours set to work for individual work days, or more than 20 days per month.
On this tab, days per month means work days, not calendar days.

If it's not there, then somehow you may have resources with indivifual
calendars set to allow work on the weekends.

Hi,

1. Verify what "a day" is in Tools, Options, Calendar. Project doesn't work
in days but in minutes.
2. Read more on this is FAQ 5. Default working houre - URL of the FAQs in my
signature.

Thanks Jim,

I used the Standard Calendar, I have resource calendards as well because of
vacation and the standard calendar has been updated to reflect public
holidays.

Weekend days are marked as non-working days by default and I did not make
any change to that. I have 20 working days, 6.5 hours per day. I have not
used any of the resource calendar.

Nothing seems to work. I sthere something I did wrong while setting up the
plan?
