none of my office programs will start

If i go to add/remove programs and click the office 2000 icon a preparing to install/gathering information dialog box starts up but before the blue progress bar is done it just disapears. The same thing happens when I try to open word, excel, ect..., also I cannot find an uninstall program. How would I fix this problem? Thank you for your help, also I'm using office 2000 pro windows 98se
