Normal Layout View Doesn't Show Text Formatting

Working in Word 2000 (part of Office Professional.) If i have the "view" on
the toolbar selected for "Normal", none of the text formatting is displayed
properly. Font, font size, italics, underlining, nothing. It is all
displayed the same. If I switch to any other view, it is displayed
correctly.

I have uninstalled Office and reinstalled. I deleted the Normal.dot file
(several times.) I have Norton Antivirus and no viruses are detected. I
have run Ad-Aware and SpyBot to remove spyware. This just started happening
out of the blue.

Any help is appreciated.

On the View tab of Tools | Options, clear the check box for "Draft font."
