We spotted exactly the same problem, in addition we noticed the normal.dot
file was being asked to be updated. (Irrespective of what application in
Office2003 you used.) Our lead up to this problem was, 1. we tried to remove
Norton's trial version of he antivirus (successful?), then we loaded
Antivir - at this point we noticed that you could create files in Word etc,
save them - but after attempting to recall them into the application, or
pull up exisiting documents - we were advised that the "File was not
available".
We then tried to unload the antivirus application, again - still would not
work. So unload Office2003 and reload from scratch - again problem
remained....
Getting desperate at this point, so thought we would go the whole hog... and
"reload XP." Bugger.... the XP recovery disks managed to format the drive,
but wouldn't rebuild the system. Great!!!!
Have others had such successful wastes of time... but actually got the
problem resolved? (We haven't!!!)
