Not Receiving Windows XP Home Edition updates automatically

Question:
Currently I have Windows XP Home Edition operating system
on my compute and have Service Pack 1. Should I update to
Service Pack 1a and or will it make much of a difference.

Question:
Recently I have installed Office XP Professional on my
computer with XP Home Edition operating system, would
that cause me from not getting automatic Critical updates
coming into my notification tray. I was receiving
automatic Windows updates but for some reason I now am
not been receiving any critical updates...etc. at all
since beginning of November/03.

Question:
Would you recommend me upgrading to Office XP
Professional operating system and if I do will all my
other programs (example Outlook Express)be okay that have
been installed on my computer since I first received my
computer with XP Home Edition.

Question:
Is Office Std. 2003 the same software program as Office
XP Professional or is the Office XP Professional the
updated version. What is the difference between Office
2003 and Office XP Professional.

Question:

As I mentioned above, I was receiving all Windows updates
from Microsoft via (Emachines) which is my computer
manufacturing and my computer is setup for automatic
updates to come into the notification tray. I have
checked all system info. and the automatic update feature
is checked off but have not received any recent updates
since the last one which was beginning of November/03. I
have gone into Windows update site and scanned all
updates, it tells me that there are no current updates
for my operating system. I have been trying to find out
why that I was receiving with no problem all critical
updates, patches..etc. automatically but now nothing.
Would installing Office XP Professional program which has
(Office applications such as Word..etc.)cause Windows
update for Windows XP Home Editon operating system stop
coming in automatically. Let me know who I can contact to
get answers. I have already emailed for support on this
issue but so far nothing. What should I do to so that I
can keep on receiving all Windows critical updates
automatically.

The operating system and the Office product operate separately and have no
impact on each other when it comes to automatic updates. Check under
Control Panel, System Information, Automatic Updates tab to ensure that you
have it active. You can also go to Windows Update manually by selecting it
from your start menu.

There have been no critical updates since the second Tuesday in November so
I would not worry. If January 13 rolls around and nothing shows up, then I
would manually visit Windows Update.
