Not responding on double click

When I double click on my Outlook icon, the intial window
stays up, eventually when I check the task manager using
CTRL-ALT-DEL it shows as not responding.
I have reinstalled Microsoft 2000 and still have the same
problem.
Any ideas which direction I should go now????
