not running, but installed

I did a system clean recently, and then I tried to open Word, it opened fine,
but then an installation window comes up and attempts to install new
features, asks for the install disk so I put it in... and then it says that
it cannot find an important setup file on the disc and you cannot complete
the installation. So I hit cancel and then it says that its not installed for
the current user and that I should install. But it was completely installed
and working just fine before I performed the clean. Ive tried opening all of
the office programs, but its the same deal with each one. And it has affected
all the user accounts on my computer, not just mine. So I tried to repair,
that didnt work, then I tried reinstall, that didnt work either. There seems
to be missing files from the install disc but when I open it up I find the
ones it says arent there. ??? So Im wondering if I just completely uninstall
and then reinstall it, will I need to get a new activation key for my
computer? If I do, it would be my last of the three and it seems kind of
ridiculous to get another one just to fix the problem. Does anyone know whats
going on and how to help me?

What are the *exact* err msgs?

The three Licences are per PC not per number of reinstallations

Well first it brings up an installation window and says its installing a
feature, and then it asks for the installation CD, so I put it in and then it
says that a setup file is missing from the install CD, so you have to cancel
the installation, and then it says that the program has not been installed
for the current user, and closes the program. And so if I completely
uninstall office 2003 and then reinstall it on the same computer, its not
going to take another activation away?

A reinstallation on the same PC, or even installation on a replacement PC
(assuming old PC is scrapped or Office removed) doesnt use any extra
Licence. Though in some cases you may have to use phone activation.

A repair of Office using the CD should work, perhaps your clean up removed a
file registration entry.
You may have to resort to this tool, ensure you read carefully before using

Ok so I completely uninstalled Office 2003, restarted my computer and tried
to reinstall, and after a few seconds on install progress an error comes up
that says file "D:\CC561401.CAB cannot be found. Verify that the file exists
and that you can access it." And its the same thing as before: you click
retry and the error message comes up again, so you are forced to hit cancel
and cancel the installation. What do I do???

Run Disk Cleanup & delete all temp files.
Check the in the link I posted & install the tool.
When you run it, delete any instance of MS Office found

Before doing so though, you dont have any Office Trial Edition installed do
you

Last night I fixed the problem. My computer wouldnt allow me to install the
program you suggested. What I did was I copied the contents of the install
disc to a folder on my computers hard drive, and installed from there... it
worked just fine. Now Office is running properly. Thank you for all your help
and your suggestions.
