Notebook layout view -

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel Trying to keep a "Notebook" of meeting minutes for my new employer, but I can't get the hierarchy to format. It doesn't look like the example in the Mactopia tutorial - everything is flush left, even if it is a level 2, or level 3 comments. What am I doing wrong?

Am I inputting it incorrectly?

It's hard to say what -- if anything -- you're doing "wrong" because you
haven't told what it is that you're doing :)

In order to DEMOTE a line press the Tab key, to PROMOTE a line use
Shift+Tab. There are also buttons in the Note Levels section of the
Formatting Palette for those same purposes as well as the Levels List.

If that doesn't resolve the issue you'll need to be a bit more descriptive
of what you expect, how you're going about it, & how the result differs from
your expectations. We can only go by the picture you paint for us and we
have no idea which 'example' you might be referring to:)

Sorry - here are more details:

The video I watched was called: Create a text and audio notebook in Word 2008

The word I meant to use is: INDENT. While it says it's a "NOTE LEVEL 2", it's not indented. Everything is flush left.

In Outline view, it appears indented but why aren't the lines indented in Notebook Layout View? What am I doing wrong?

A friend of mine created a document in Notebook Layout View and it has very clear indentations for each hierarchy in Notebook Layout View. That's what I want to do.

It seems like it should be intuitive but it isn't.

Thanks,

Teresa

OK, try this: Create a new document in NB View, type some content on the
first line, press return, then press Tab. What happens?

Type more content, press return. Type some content there, press return
again, then press Shift+Tab. What happens?

Bob - it seems to be working now - I was inputting the numbers instead of have Notebook Layout View do it for me.

Yeah, just numbering the paragraphs doesn't subordinate one to another. It's
necessary to Promote/Demote the paragraph. Bulleting/Numbering is applied as
a formatting attribute if you choose to use it.
