NT Authentication

Project Server is working well. My question is how do we
get Windows Authentication to work? When we attempt to log
in via Windows Authentication we receive the following
error:

Microsoft Project cannot log you on automatically using
your Windows user account. You need to change the account
in your profile, or contact your Microsoft Project Server
administrator to check if your Windows user account exists
and is a valid account on the Microsoft Project Server.
(5003)

We have attempted Windows Authentication several times but
to no avail. If anyone has worked through a similar
problem we would appreciate any help we can get.

Thank you in advance

Yes, are project server and sql server are all in the same
domain.

To answer your second question, yes. In PWA the account
we are testing is set up for windows auth. and it
corresponds to a legit windows account.

Hmmm....Since you're using Project Server authentication
now, I'm assuming you set your web permissions to "Allow
Anonymous".....Do you have Windows Authentication checked
off too?

Hi Courtland,

First, the 'did you plug it in?' question :) When you go to PWA and modify
the user, is "Windows Authentication" selected and are you sure you are
using the right login name?

Make sure the user is entered exactly like this:
DOMAINNAME\DomainUserName

If this still does not work, here are the steps to make sure the users can
properly access the server:

1) In IIS Manager, expand the Project Server website, right-click the MSADC
folder, choose "Properties", go to "Directory Security", find the IP Address
and domain name restrictions area and click the "Edit..." button. Make sure
"Granted Access" is selected.
2) Do the same steps above for the website itself running Project Server.
3) On the Project Server, find the MSADC folder, which is typically located
under: C:\Program Files\Common Files System. Set the security permissions
to give Project Server users "Read & Execute" and "Read".

As always, make sure you ran the ProxyCFG and PSComPlus tools. If you have
not done so, follow the instructions on the Project Server CD to configure
these and re-boot the server (or use IISRESET using a command prompt, if you
are comfortable with that).

Hope this helps,

-Bill

William:

In PWA "Windows Authentication" is selected and I am
positive I am using the right login name.

I am logging in as DOMAINNAME\Domain User Name

I've also done everything else you asked me to do within
the IIS manager. My proxycfg has been run as well as the
PSComPlus tool.

Anything else you can think of?

Thanks
