Number field that can't change if tasks are added or removed?

Does anybody know of a number field that will not change that is attached to
a task permanently, whether or not another task is inserted above it in the
project? The ID and outline # both change.

It is called Unique ID.

The <Unique ID> number will not change.

You can also view logic via <Unique ID> vice <ID> by using the <Unique ID
Predessors> or <Unique ID Successors> fields.
