number format(ting)

I inserted a column in front of task name to contain our task numbers.
Project numbers seven digits with a decimal and two places (7015031.01).
When I opened the project as new and input the task numbers they were
accepted and appear in the column in the proper format. However, I needed to
add some new task numbers and now Project is dropping the decimal and two
places following the decimal (7015031). This information is critical for
identifying the task.

Any ideas about what is going on and how / if it can be fixed?
Your thoughts / ideas are appreciated.
Thank you very much.

Hello Fiordispina,

Could you give us a bit more information about what sort of field (Text?
Number? WBS? ) field you are using? If you have created a custom WBS
field, have you tried to re-number the WBS? What is the custom formula
(Text or Number field) or custom mask (WBS field) you have used?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
