Numbering ABC, abc comes up in Greek font

How do I prevent the outline Numbering ABC or abc from changing from English
to symbol or Greek font? I start out with a, and the next line automatically
comes up with a Greek letter! I do have Character, in Bullets set to the
correct Ariel font of my publication.
