O2K prompts for data1.msi ?!

I have installed Office 2000 on a windows 2000 laptop
however whenever I log on as a user who has not used this
laptop before and try to open an office application
(mainly word) I get prompted for the source location that
I installed Office from - it is looking for the data1.msi
file !?

I need to install office so that I dont get this prompt
again as the Laptop is shared between many users and most
of the time they are at home and do not have access to an
Office 2000 premium setup CD.

Hi, Ben,

Did you install Office as the machine administrator? Did you do a full
installation at that time? If not, that might fix things.

Hi Susan,

No I have installed it as a user with admin privelidges
(logged onto the network with the media saved onto a
network drive) I will install it as administrator (do you
mean log on to the laptop locally as administrator?) and
use an office CD.
Thanks for your advice...

Yeah...that's what I mean. It isn't supposed to make any difference, but it
may.
