Office 2000 and XP

I recently purchased a new HP Media Edition computer
which has Windows XP because my old computer died. Can I
legally install Office 2000 on my new computer? I have
the disc which came with my old Gateway computer.

Terri,

If Office 2000 came pre-installed on your old computer, it is called an OEM
version of Office and you cannot install it on your new computer. OEM
versions are permanently wedded to the machine on which they were initially
installed.
