Office 2000 attempts to install continoulsy

When I double click on certain desktop icons, office or outlook 2000 wants to
install. This even happens if a complete install of office or outlook 2000 is
already installed. I hear of a registry fix for this, but am unable to find
it. Does anyone have a solution or a link to the fix?
