Office 2000 doc won't open in 2003

I installed Office 2003 Standard Edition for students and teachers. All the word documents I created with Office 2000 won't open. I get the error "The file **** is not available". I can start a new document and insert the 2000 document in it. But is there a way to open the old files normally

Disable the Office Plug-in in Norton AntiVirus.
