Office 2000 err document name or path is not valid

When I try to open Excel or Word in Office 2000, I receive the following
error message:

The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions:
* Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
* Use the File Open dialog box to locate the document.
(path\file name)

I have tried a repair, reinstall, and uninstall/reinstall. Nothing seems to
work and I cannot find any other solutions. I can open an existing word doc
fine, but I'd like to know why this error is being generated.

Can anyone offer any ideas, suggestions, etc?
Thanks!

Can you open Word without any add-ins? See this article for help
on bypassing the add-ins. If you can, then you will need to
determine which new program is causing the conflict.

Be sure and let us know whether this helps or not.

At the present time I cannot try the suggested solution. I am a computer
consultant, and this issue has only arisen on one or two client machines.

However I will say trying to run word with the /a option as described in the
article did not work when tried on the clients machine.

I believe the article solution will be the answer to resolving the errors I
have seen. The article did a great job of explaining why this issue might
arise and how to troubleshoot it.

The next time I run into this error I will try the posted solution and let
you know if it works.

Thank you very much for your time and help!
Have a great day.
