Office 2000 upgrade trouble

I have a new laptop and an old Office 2000 Professional Upgrade that I never
used. I wanted to put the Office upgrade on my new laptop, but when I try to
install it says that it can't find qualifying software. My laptop has
WordPerfect 12, and the Office upgrade box says that WordPerfect 5.1 to 6.1
is eligible. Is WordPerfect 12 not eligible, then? Am I just out of luck?
