office 2003 can`t modify the normal.dot

Terry Farrell

The normal.dot - by default - should be in documents and settings, username,
applications data, Microsoft, templates and the location should agree with
the location in Word, Tools, Options, File Locations tab.

If that is set up OK, then I'd suspect that the user's profile must be
corrupt on that computer. Does another user logged into that computer work
OK?

Are you able to make any other changes that require to be saved to
normal.dot. Try changing the default page setup (remember to press DEFAULT
in the setup dialog and save change to global template when you exit Word).

Does this work OK?

Hi Terry,

No, it does nor work. however if we open normal.dot, we do a change has you
have explained and we save it to the Normal.dot file then it works.

I have also tried to start Word using the "/a" switch with no success.

I also tried deleting this user
\\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data key in the
register with no luck.

One thing is thst Word is the default editor for Outlook. We also use the
check speller called Antidote (http://www.druide.com/) but they say their
product is 100% office 2003 compliant. it intergrates with office but dozens
of user have it here.
