I am a freelance writer. If I buy Office 2003 Pro, may I install it on both
my desktop and on my laptop (used only when traveling) without any hassles?
Please reply to (e-mail address removed).

Yes, if you buy a regular retail copy, and are not using an OEM copy.

Sorry, no e-mail replies. Ask in a group, read the answer in a group. In
addition, posting your valid e-mail address in a newsgroup post, or in your
news account settings, is a surefire way to get spam and SWEN and other
viruses sent to you....see http://www.mailmsg.com/SPAM_munging.htm for help
in the future.

Thanks...I thought users were only able to activate Office programs once, on
one PC, and if that were the case I'd forget it...I always install programs
on both of my systems. I'm assuming this applies to retail, off-the-shelf
upgrades? Looks like I will have to buy Ofc 2000 Professional...since I use
Access...as well as an upgrade to my FrontPage, since I no longer see that on
any Office packages. Correct?

Yep - you should be able to do that just fine. If you're nervous before
buying, maybe give MS licensing a call?

Thanks....do you have a special number for them?

Susan Ramlet

Hi, jmbcomms1620,

It's not a special number, it's just the number Microsoft publishes, I
believe:

1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific time)
and ask to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Worldwide
customers can use the Guide to Worldwide Microsoft Licensing Sites to find
contact information in their locations.

I've called them and have had good luck speaking with a real person for
free.

Hi, I have a similar "dilemma" as Susan's. I bought a copy of MS Office XP
Pro (with Publisher ver 2002) OEM. I have 2 PCs at home. I installed and
got it activated in one PC. Now Im planning to do it again in my son's PC s.
Will this be alright?

Bob Buckland ?:-\)

Hi Jumpy,

Unfortunately, no. Unlike retail copies of MS Office,
which are licensed to a user for two machines,
OEM copies are licensed to a single / original machine.
