Office 2003 not terminating

My Office 2003 programs, (Word, Outlook, OneNote, that I know of so far) are
leaving stubs in memory. I was looking at the Process viewer of Windows
Task Manager and can multiple stubs still resident. I have the latest
updates installed. How can this be corected?
