Office 2003 Orig. Install Source Req.

D

Devin

The other night my beta version of Office 2003 had expired
and I figured I should go ahead and install my
Professional version that I got. So I just went ahead and
uninstalled the Beta version. Now when I put in the
Professional CD it begins to install but stops when it
says:

"Waiting for cabinets to be cached to local installation
source"

and then what I get is a error, "File Not Found: Original
Installation Source Required" because it can't see
the .CAB file which is clearly on the CD.

I tried copying the file to the drive, the entire CD, but
to no avail. Does this have to do with the Beta or
something?

Thanks in advance,
Devin

Hi Devin,

If you're also getting a failure when trying to
copy the CD to your hard drive, my guess is that
the CD you have is defective. You may want to
contact MS for a replacement CD.

If you can copy the CD without a problem and get
the error during setup from there it could be
3rd party software, such as antivirus interfering.

Well, no, neither is the case. The CD is fine because it
all copies fine. There was no 3rd party interference
because I followed the steps to attempt install with all
services disabled and the selective start-up. I believe
there's something deeper....
