Office 2003 upgrade problem

J

Javier Villegas

Hi

I made the upgrade from Office XP to Office 2003 using a user GPO
installation.
I installed Office XP from user GPO too.

The upgrade proccess has no problem but in computers with Windows 2000,
when a user try to send a mail from Word or Excel or pick up a file from
Windows explorer to send it to a mail recipient, appear a windows installer
asking for Office XP installation files. If you cancel this request, you
could do the action that you want, but every time you try to do one of these
operations the Office XP installer request appear.

If you install the Office XP files that the installer want, you could not
send a mail from Word or Excel or pick up a file from Windows explorer to
send it to a mail recipient never more until you unsitall everything and
install it again (I can not do this with the managers computers)

Do you know how can I fix it ?

All the Windows 2000 computers has all the services packs

thanks in advance

This is happening because Office XP was not completely removed, and there is
a version conflict that the Windows Installer is attempting to resolve.
First try to uninstall Office XP via Windows Add/Remove Programs. If that
doesn't resolve the problem, you can use the Windows Installer Cleanup
Utility to remove the Windows Installer registry information for Office XP.
You'll find the download information for this utility at
