Office 2003 upgrade problems

I've just upgraded from Office XP to 2003 and keep getting a message that
windows installer is looking for a Office XP file (even though the install of
2003 completed ok). When I load the Office XP cd in, installer cannot find
the file and doesn't proceed. Then installer comes up with a message saying
that Office 2003 is completing the install process.

Help!!!

Further details re my problem:

When I first log onto Windows XP Pro (SP2), Windows Installer comes up with
"Preparing to install...Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office
XP Professional".

Then, "The feature you are trying to use is on CD ROM or other movable disk
that is not available. Insert Microsoft Office XP Professional disk and
click OK".

Even when I insert XP Professional, it does not find the file, so I click
cancel. Error 1706 comes up saying that setup cannot find the required file.
Then, pop-up is displayed saying to "wait while windows configures Microsoft
Office Standard Edition 2003".

Why does the Office Xp message come up in the first place if I've
successfully installed 2003?

You may need to cleanup the Windows Installer.
