I have a power point presentation that was professionally done in 2002 that I
use to teach my pepper spray class at the jail with. It has several slides
that contain mpeg video clips and plays fine on just about every computer I
try it on except my new laptop that runs xp and media player 10. whenI get to
a video slide it says that powerpoint has experienced an error and needs to
close. I send a report to microsoft and follow the links they suggest and
they claim it is an mpeg codec problem but their download doesn't solve the
problem. I have also tried going to the mpeg32.exe option from the run tab
and the videos will not play from there either.
How can I find out what codec I need?
I'm desperate I have to teach this class in another week and really need
this laptop as it has all the associaed class materials installed on it.
Thanks Eric

I ran the codec detector program and found three with broken links:
bicubic video resizer
nero dvd encoder
subtitle mixer
could one of these be the problem?
Also when I check the properties they say all my video files are mpeg I have
a mpeg 1 and 2 codec installed am I missing one?
Thanks so much for the help.

I doubt if those are the problem. You might want to have a look here for
