Office 2003 & Word 2003 to Edit e-mail messages

I am currently running a Windows XP machine with Office
XP suite except for an upgraded version of Outlook 2003.

Is there a reason why my "Use Microsoft Office Word 2003
to Edit e-mail messages" is greyed out and I cannot
select it? I cannot find any knowledge base articals on
it.

You cannot use a previous version of Word as the editor for Outlook 2003.
