OFFICE 2006

Does anyone know if Office 2006 is going to restore the much missed Office
Short Cut Bar that Microsoft foolishly removed with the release of Office
2003?

When you have Quick Launch, why do you need the Office Short Cut Bar?

I don't know anything about what will be in the next release of Office - and
if anyone in here did know, it would be confidential information they could
not legally disclose.

Try e-mailing (e-mail address removed) for product feature requests - but
honestly, on this one, I wouldn't hold my breath. Like many, I don't miss
the Office Shortcut bar at all - don't miss using it (I didn't) and don't
miss supporting it (I did). QuickLaunch is a lot better. Have you tried
using it?

The Office Shortcut Bar died a timely and useful death with Office 2003.
The OS on which Office 2003 can run supports much more robust options as
well as the next version of Windows will offer something akin to the current
offering of Desktop Sidebar so the OSB will be completely obsolete.

Some people find Quick Launch to be a rather lame substitute for the OSB.
Yes, you can make do with it, but it's just not as usable. Windows
toolbars have a long way to go before they're really functional. Perhaps
the worst "feature" is that if you unwittingly turn the QL bar off in
order to get it out of the way temporarily, it's actually deleted and you
have to rebuild it from scratch if you want it back.
