office 2008 requests serial for each new portable home login

as the subject indicates, i have a client who uses portable home
accounts across the board. upon new account login, office pops up the
registration, serialization, setup window. i can probably suppress the
setup app from launching, but will the suite expect to have the serial
plugged in every time?

Hi Nate:

No, only once, but the Applications folder must be writeable when you do it


If you deploy individual retail copies, you must enter the correct product
key once for each copy when it starts.

To do a silent install, you need a volume licence.
