Office 2k sr1 fails with a "2331" error message

My copy of windows 98 ate most of my .dll files.

I have re-installed win98.

After the re-install, Office 2000 would not run.

I have re-installed Office 2000, and attempted to apply
update 2k SR 1.

I get the following:

Error 2331: Error loading library MSPATCHA or finding
entry point TestApplyPatchToFileByHandles

Internal Error 2331: Please contact product support for
assistance.

MSI (c) (DD:A9): Product: Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1
Professional -- Internal Error 2331: Please contact
product support for assistance.

How do I "fix" this?

You are right, of course. However, my firm insists that I
use Office on their computers. It is interesting that
before posting here, I was unsuccessful in finding a fix
from our (non)Support Department.

I still have win98 because I refuse to use xp, and I have
sufficient authority to make that decision.
