Office 97 Install

Happy holidays! I cannot install my genuine Office 97 CD
on my Windows 2000 system after reformatting my drive. I'm
told, incorrectly, that I only have an Update version of
Office 97, not a full license, and the PC won't accept my
installation.
Any suggestions?
