Office 97/WinXP

Hi all,
I am trying to install Office 97 on computer running XP Pro.
Office 2000 was previously installed on this computer.
The install of Office 97 is successful but when I open any application I get
the following error.
"The application must be installed to run. Please run setup from the
location where you originally installed the application."
I am logged in as administrator.
