Office Button in Word, Excel & Outlook

F

FOSVA Limited

Hi

I'm getting extremely annoyed with the office button as most of the time
when I click on it in either Word, Excel or Outlook, it exits the whole
program! Whether i'm trying to open from a recent list of documents, save as
etc (we don't see to have a save as icon anymore). It has taken me half an
hour to save just 8 documents as it keeps doing this.

Same thing in outlook when I click on messages, especially if they were
headers downloaded, it bombs out.

Excel has the same issue as word.

Any ideas how this can be fixed? Is it a known but? It is making it
extremely difficult to work effectively.

Hi Fosva,

Double clicking the Office Button exits the program. Double clicking the logo in the upper left of many programs in Windows will
exit the program as well, but the Office Button is a bigger target <g> and the way to get to what was the 'Files' menu. You can use
Alt+F from the keyboard to open the Office Button menu or add items to the Quick Access Toolbar (Alt, F, I, C)

You may also want to check the settings for click response/sensitivity for your mouse in the Windows control panel (i.e. how it
'sees' the difference between a single and double click action).

Thanks Bob

I thought that might be the case, but i'm not double clicking and even when
i click very slowly same thing. I'll try Alt F. The 'save as' icon isn't
listed in customise tool bar.

Thanks

yes it is - you need to look in the "all commands" drop-down.....

Hi Anne,

Once you have the Office button open with Alt+F, you can right click on 'Save As' to add that choice the Quick Access Toolbar. The
built in keyboard shortcut for SaveAs is F12.
