Office install problem

Karen

I'm using Office 2000 on WinXP.

After adding a new hard drive and moving some stuff
around, I ended up with everything MSO-related on one
drive except for the MSOCACHE folder, which was on the
second drive. I posted an earlier question asking if
that's why every time I open an MSO application, MSO runs
through some installation thing before the app opens.

Someone here directed me to this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=830168

I apparently didn't do such a good job following the
instructions. I opened Win Explorer and deleted the
MSOCACHE folder -- and *then* I read on another page that
you should NEVER do that. Of course, it didn't say why.

I've run MSO repair, but my MSOCACHE folder is still
missing, and I still get the annoying install thing
before my applications will open.

Can anyone help me sort out this mess? (And if your
instructions include anything about running something
from a command line or using the setup.ini file, I'll
need explicit directions -- I don't know how to do either
of those things.)

Help!
