I tried to automatically update Office Professional and received the notice
that update could not happen because Windows Installer patch files (.MSP
files) from previously applied Office updates are missing from the hidden
directory. I could repair or remove the program for reinstallation as
desicribed in this known MSFT bug. I had installed updates prior to
installing service pack 2 and the trail was lost.
I used the clean up tool from the MSFT web site and now the attempt to
reinstall locks up the setup program. I can open the program but it reports
the application is not installed with the request that I use setup. This is
a circular process.
How do I clean up the registery to allow me to do a fresh install of Office
Professional @003?
